The wealth of knowledge that this Agency has is endless. It is extremely gratifying to be a part of a Team that recognizes and celebrates each person’s unique contributions and ideas.
Special interests: spending time with my family, especially when we can enjoy the beautiful outdoors that Alberta has to offer.

Kim Hopkins

Education: Thomas Danby College , UK graduate of the National Nursery Examination Board (NNEB); George Brown College, Ontario - Early Childhood Education diploma; Child Development Supervisor Equivalency, Alberta.
Work experience: Over 20 years in the field of early childhood education, starting with a career as a live in nanny for 5 years, then a preschool teacher for the YMCA children’s services department in Toronto for three years, leading up to being an assistant director of a YMCA daycare then a director overseeing a daycare and two school age programs for an additional 2 years. Has organized summer camp operations, and ran a non for profit daycare in Calgary. Previously worked for CDDH for 3 years as the nanny consultant and happily returned in 2008.
Favorite part of the job: “I really enjoy approving new dayhomes and supporting the providers to help them be successful and making sure they are having fun with the children. Having the opportunity to visit the dayhomes and play with the children always brightens my day!”
Special interests: Enjoys being outdoors and active. Can be found snowshoeing, playing ball hockey or skiing in the winter, hiking, biking, golfing or field hockey in the summer. Loves the beach and sunshine and has a very dry sense of humor, and has been known to tear up the dance floor on occasion with Irish dance, belly dance and even a little salsa. Has the cutest little dog in the world “Niblet” who often visits the office, loves to play with the children who come in and sleeps on her desk.

Favorite part of the job: I enjoy meeting new people and having the opportunity to mentor others through sharing my experiences.
Special interests: Spending valuable time with my family and being involved in my children’s sports teams (hockey, soccer). Camping and hiking. Volunteer work with children and adults with different abilities. Committee involvement with the Alberta Family Child Care Association.

Work experience: 15 years working in the childcare field. Several years of Daycare experience in the Uk. Came to work in Calgary as a nanny and also worked in a school for special needs children as a Teacher’s Aide. Been at CCDH for 5 years.
Favorite part of the job: The Monthly Monitoring visits
Special interests: Working out at the gym, baking and spending time with my family.
