The staff at Child Development Dayhomes are qualified in Early Child Development and have extensive experience in childcare. They have the professional skills and knowledge to support parents with their childcare needs and assist Dayhome Educators.

Michelle Tamashiro
Executive Director

Education: Child Development Supervisor - Level 3 in Early Learning and Child Care; MRU, School Age Child Care Program Certificate; BVC.

Work experience: I have worked in the childcare field for over 30 years. I have held a variety of positions from Special Needs worker to Family Support Worker. In September of 1990, Child Development Dayhomes became my life. It's been over 30+ years and I haven't looked back.

Awards: Recipient of the Calgary and Area Child Care Award of Excellence for Director in a Family Childcare Program in 2006.

Favorite part of the job: I adore children and I have the best Early Learning and Childcare Team ever!! I enjoy sharing my knowledge and experience with Childcare Consultants and Educators to help create positive early learning and childcare environments for children. Planning Professional Development opportunities for Childcare Professionals, collaborating with others in the Childcare Community, sitting on advisory Committees, and supporting ELCC practicum students are other great perks.

Special interests: Spending time with my family and friends. Travelling and music.


Cheryl Crowther
Assistant Director

Education: Children’s Mental Health Certificate; Diploma in Disability Studies; Child and Youth Human Rights Certificate; Child Development Supervisor - Level 3 in Early Learning and Child Care

Work experience: 5 years working front line in an Inclusive Daycare; 3 years operating a family day home through CDDH; over 25 years as a Child Care Consultant/Assistant Director.

Awards: Recipient of the Calgary and Area Child Care Award of Excellence for Child Care Consultant in 2005.

Favorite part of the job: I enjoy meeting new people and having the opportunity to mentor others through sharing my experiences.

Special interests: Spending valuable time with my family. Camping and hiking. Volunteer work with children with different abilities. Committee involvement with the Alberta Family Child Care Association.


Kim Hopkins
Childcare Consultant

Education: Child Development Supervisor - Level 3 in Early Learning and Child Care, ECED Early Childhood Equivalency Diploma (ON), NNEB National Nursery Examination Board Certification

Work experience: Started with CDDH in 1999 after working as a Daycare Director and overseeing summer camps for school-age children.

Favorite part of the job: Coaching Dayhome Educators and having the opportunity to play and interact with the children in the dayhome.

Special interests: Participating in sports, outdoor activities, and volunteering with the Magic of Christmas charitable organization.


Marissa Lockhart
Client Care Consultant / Administrative Assistant

Education: Level 2 in Early Learning and Child Care - MRU

Work experience: I have been with CDDH as a Client Care Consultant since 2007. I am now on the Administration Team. My mom says I have been changing diapers since I was in diapers so I always knew that my career would include children. I started my career in childcare in high school which eventually turned into a full-time caregiver position. From Daycare, I moved to Preschool where I spent 4 years as a Teacher's Assistant and 1 year as a Preschool Teacher.

Favorite part of the job: I love everything about my day-to-day work. We have an amazing team, amazing Educators, wonderful parents, and children and I get to interact with all of them daily!

Special interests: I enjoy spending time with my 4 daughters and husband doing anything from board games to drives through the country, reading romance novels, and watching movies



Karen Fisher
Childcare Consultant / Administrative Assistant

Education: ECE Diploma, Child Development Supervisor - Level 3 in Early Learning and Child Care

Work experience: I have been in childcare since 1981. I have worked as a nanny, in a daycare working with the children and as a Director, as an ECE teacher, a parent, a dayhome Educator, and a Consultant. I have been with Child Development Dayhomes for over 15 years.

Favorite part of the job: I love to visit with the children and help support the provider in creating stimulating and quality environments.

Special interests: I love crafting and camping.


Yvonne Clifford
Childcare Consultant

Education: Child Development Supervisor - Level 3 in Early Learning and Child Care and Business Management Certificate

Work experience: I have been working in the field of Early Childhood for 30+ years. I have worked as an Assistant Director of Daycare, Family Dayhome Coordinator/Director, FDH Consultant, Family Dayhome Educator, Healthy Families Worker, and Program Administration/Coordinator. I started with Child Development Dayhomes in November 2012.

Favorite part of the job: I really love to work with parents, colleagues, and Educators to provide the best possible care for children. I love to play, teach, role model and advocate for quality childcare.

Special interests: Walking and baking


Teresa Larkin
Client Care Consultant / Child Care Consultant

Education: Level 2 in Early Learning and Child Care

Work experience: Started with Child Development Dayhomes in July 2012. I have been in the Child Care field for 24 years. I started off as a Nanny and then once I had my own children, I operated an Approved Regulated Dayhome in England for 10 years.

Favorite part of the job: I love working with children and interacting with people. This job is perfect for me as I get to do both.

Special interests: Walking, hiking, camping, and working out.


Kathryn Hart
Child Care Consultant

Education: Level 2 in Early Learning and Child Care

Work experience: Started with Child Development Dayhomes in 2008 as a Dayhome Educator and moved into the role of Child Care Consultant in October 2011

Favorite part of the job: Spending time in the Dayhomes, interacting with the children, and connecting with and supporting Educators. 

Special interests: Music and reading



Zoe Stone
Childcare Consultant

Education: Child Development Supervisor - Level 3 in Early Learning and Child Care

Work experience: 20+ years of experience in the childcare field. These experiences are in many different areas of childcare. Zoe has been at Child Development Dayhomes since 2006. 

Favorite part of the job: Interacting with many different people and watching Educators learn and grow in their Dayhomes.

Special interests: Being active by walking and running, baking, cooking, and exploring vintage stores. 


Kathy Kubik
Childcare Consultant

Education: Child Development Supervisor - Level 3 in Early Learning and Child Care

Work experience: Previous: Early Childhood Educator, Preschool Program Director. I have been working as a Childcare Consultant with Child Development Dayhomes since March 2011.

Favorite part of the job: I love being able to utilize my education and past experiences to help others provide amazing learning opportunities for the children in their care. The wealth of knowledge that this Agency has is endless. It is extremely gratifying to be a part of a team that recognizes and celebrates each person’s unique contributions and ideas.

Special interests: Spending time with my family, especially when we can enjoy the beautiful outdoors that Alberta has to offer.


Melissa Callaway
Client Care / Childcare Consultant

Education: ECL Diploma, Child Development Supervisor - Level 3 in Early Learning and Child Care

Work experience: I worked as a Family Liaison for Family Services of Central Alberta, I have several years of experience as a Childcare worker in Daycare settings (all age groups),  where I transitioned to Assistant Director of Before and After School Care with the YMCA of Northern Alberta, and then Director of ASC both in Edmonton and Calgary programs. Before moving home to Calgary in 2014, I worked as a Program Supervisor for the Grandin ASC program in Edmonton. I have also done 3 years as an office administrator and accounting coordinator with a local Calgary company.

Favorite part of the job: I love working with a collaborative team of women who are so amazing and have such a wealth of knowledge in the Childcare field. I have enjoyed getting to know the Educators and look forward to my monthly support visits. I love to mentor Educators and help them grow and flourish their business.

Special interests: Running, hiking, music, scrapbooking, spending time with my husband or family, I am a big Disney fanatic and love both California and Florida, and I love to travel and see new places. I also love animals, especially dogs.


Reshma Reddy
Childcare Consultant

Education: Child Development Supervisor - Level 3 in Early Learning and Child Care

Work experience: I have worked in the childcare field for over 18 years in various positions. I have experience working directly as an Early Childhood Educator, Child Support Worker, Family Child Care Consultant, and Family Enrolment Coordinator. I also enjoy working part-time on weekends at the Children's Cottage as a Child Support Worker.

Favorite part of the job: I enjoy working with wonderful team members, children, and families. I love sharing my experience and knowledge with Early Childhood Educators. I also enjoy supporting Educators to create fun and nurturing learning environments. Hearing the voices of children and seeing their faces light up makes my day extra special!!

Special interests: Spending time with my family, working out, shopping, and traveling.



Vanessa Roy
Childcare Consultant

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Child Studies from Mount Royal University; Child Development Supervisor - Level 3 in Early Learning and Child Care; Early Childcare and Learning Certificate from Lethbridge College.

Work experience: I have previous experience working as a Preschool Teacher at a French school in the Northwest Territories, I have daycare experience and have worked as a teacher's assistant in French schools in Calgary.

Favorite part of the job: I love visiting the Dayhomes and supporting Educators with program planning and child guidance. It is so rewarding interacting with the children and helping to facilitate learning through play in the Dayhome environments!

Special interests: I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, cooking, hiking, and biking!


Daman Nijjar
Childcare Consultant

Education: Bachelor of Child Studies Major Early Learning and Child Care; Child Development Supervisor - Level 3 Early Learning and Child Care

Work experience: During my time at Mount Royal University (MRU), I gained experience in Daycare, Preschool, and Out of School Care. During my last year at MRU, I got to apply my leadership competencies through my capstone with Child Development Dayhomes. After graduating, I became a team member at Child Development Dayhomes.

Favorite part of the job: As a Consultant, I not only get to work with children, but also get to work with families, Educators, and coworkers in a learning community where we all come together and view each other as equal participants. Building long-lasting relationships that are meaningful and that enhance quality care is what motivates me in my practice.

Special interests: I enjoy spending time with family and friends and creating art!


Kayann Laylor
Childcare Consultant

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Child and Youth Care; ECE Diploma with BVC; Child Development Supervisor - Level 3 Early Learning and Child Care

Work experience: I have over 9 years of early childhood development experience, working with children, adolescents, and youths with varying abilities. Some of my roles include Director of a preschool and Before and Afterschool Care, Manage Parent Programs, and Supervised Visitation Programs. I am committed to the well-being of children, youth, families, and communities. I am passionate about advocating for quality child care, education, social change, and building relationships.

Favorite part of the job: Building relationships and connections with Educators and interacting with the children during Dayhome visits.

Special interests: I enjoy spending time with family, hiking and being outdoors, reading, traveling, and hosting family and friends. I love to plan, and I am part of a book club.


Kennedy Tamashiro
Social Media & Marketing Coordinator

Education: Diploma in Graphic Communications and Print Technology - SAIT

Work experience: I have worked in the communications field for the last few years and have learned so much. I have experience as a Graphic Designer, Print Operator, Web Designer, and now a Social Media and Marketing Coordinator. Communications and marketing have become my passion.

Favorite part of the job: I love working with Educators alongside Consultants to help promote Dayhomes and quality care. Seeing the amazing activities and special care the Educators provide to the children in their Dayhomes is so rewarding; I love being able to showcase that! I’m inspired by working with this incredible community of Childcare Consultants and Educators at Child Development Dayhomes.

Special interests: I enjoy reading, music, thrifting, traveling, and time spent with family and friends.



Rainbow
Office Support Puppy

Hi! Meet Rainbow, our Office Support Puppy!

She is calm, gentle, and sweet and loves to share her caring and supportive energy with all of our staff.

Favorite part of the job: Receiving treats and loving pets from everyone. She bounds into the office every morning with a smile and happy energy.

Hobbies: Long walks with her family but she especially enjoys running in open fields with no leash on, and naps!!


Katie Crowther
Administration Support

Education: Level 1 in Early Learning and Child Care. I will be starting my 4th year of the Kinesiology and Human Kinetics Degree program in the fall. The content of this degree program includes studying motor development in children.

Work experience: I have previous work experience with Child Development dayhomes caring for children at workshops and administration experience in the office. I also have worked as a hockey coach and mentor for both young children and adolescents.

Favorite part of the job: I love getting to work with such a great team with different backgrounds. I enjoy getting to build lifelong connections and constantly learning from my peers.

Special interests: I enjoy spending time with family and friends outdoors. As well I love to play all sports especially hockey as I am currently a member of the University of Regina Women’s hockey team.


Elsie Harder 
Childcare Consultant

(Retired but always part of our CDDH Family)

Education: Child Development Supervisor - Level 3 in Early Learning and Child Care, BA Developmental Studies

Work experience: Family Child Care and Dayhome Consultant since January 1998.

Awards: Recipient of the Leadership in Early Learning and Child Care Professional Award of Excellence in 2011.

Favorite part of the job: Helping parents find an awesome provider. Inspiring providers to be amazing. Sharing happy moments with the children.

Special interests: Hiking, biking, baking, and gardening.
