I attended a webinar last Tuesday and learned about outside activities and the benefits of being in the snow or woods. I decided to do an activity with the kids in my care. I asked them to find footprints of any sort. They found big footprints and small. They also found dog paw prints and duck footprints. They found some prints in circle prints in the snow and called them “steering wheel” and another print on the snow they called “thunder prints.” It’s just amazing to see how children think out of the box and solve problems. I work as a co-learner watching them closely and decided to plan another activity where I can ask them to draw shapes with their boots on the snow.
