Symptoms and protocols

1. Please refer to the flow charts below for guidance regarding symptoms and what to do according to age.

2.  If your child has an underlying health condition which is accompanied by a symptom listed in the Core or Other category, you are required to take your child for an initial Covid test when those symptoms are present to determine the baseline health for your child. A medical note regarding the specific symptom must be submitted to the agency

3. If a dayhome child, dayhome educator or resident of the dayhome test positive for Covid, please inform your consultant immediately. Do not wait for contact tracers to contact us. We will need to know the date the Covid test was completed and the date the person first developed symptoms. This information is used to determine who is a close contact of that positive case. A close contact is anyone who was within two meters of a positive case for 15 minutes or more without consistent use of PPE within the 48 hrs before the Covid test or within the 48 hrs before the person first started showing symptoms, whichever was first. Please refer to AHS Close Contact information page here: https://www.albertahealthservices.ca/topics/Page17221.aspx

4. If someone is a close contact but tests negative for Covid, they are still legally required to isolate for 14 days from the time they were exposed as per the Public Health Act

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

If you have to isolate and need financial support, please refer to the link below to apply for government funding:
